Department of Foreign Languages of Professional Communication

The Department of Foreign Languages for Professional Communication at the Faculty of Linguistics and Translation was founded in 2006 and was headed by Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor K. B. Zaitseva. The department provides teaching of the following disciplines: English, foreign language of the profession (English), foreign language of the specialty, Latin at the Institute of Law, Economics and International Relations; the School of Medicine; the Faculties of Linguistics and Translation, Art and Design, as well as at the School of Economics and Law and the School of Medicine.

The faculty of the Department is constantly improving its qualifications. Teachers, applicants and postgraduate students of the Department publish their scientific articles in journals included in the list of scientific professional publications of Ukraine: “Scientific Bulletin of the International Humanitarian University”, ‘Odesa Linguistic Bulletin’, ‘Actual Directions of Modern Philology’.

The department's research work is very developed, as there is a scientific school in the following area: “Typology of Texts and Their Functional Features,” headed by Professor Mizetska V. Y. The result is 10 successfully defended PhD theses.

The staff of the department constantly attends methodological seminars, participates in webinars organized by the British Council, Cambridge Assessment English, International Language Center, Cambridge University Press.

The department annually prepares students for participation in university conferences and competitions, organizes meetings with native speakers.
